Long Term Emergency Food Storage

Long term emergency food storage can be a bit involved. But this is really easy: order kits of dried beans, rice, and other grains. These kits come in cans and are supposed to last thirty years or more.

  1. Excellent idea, we try to keep at least a years supply of wheat, barley, oats, and beans on hand at all times. One never knows when they will become a necessity.

I am a firm believer in stocking up on emergency food items and refuse to be caught without at least a good supply of grains and hopefully a root cellar full of veggies. Thanks for the reminder.

  2. I too keep at least a year's supply of the grains, seeds and beans we use on hand at all time! These kits sound interesting, I wonder if food purchased in bulk is more cost effective and what do you get in a box? Not that I would buy one but perhaps the idea could be duplicated for food banks and the needy etc. I am glad to see a discussion on the serious but fundamental topic, thanks. Peace
